![]() That's when I decided to remove the AirBag, and also when I decided to use the Dremel. He liked the idea, and I used his to document it. The car I used for the photo documentation in the original post, was a friends car. But when you take out the stock Emblem/Badge, and remove the ribbing, this fits down in there just ever so slightly below the surrounding rim. This is approximately 1/16" thick, so you would notice it sticking out. I like the Dremel idea because I think it comes out cleaner, but not everyone has a Dremel tool.Īs far as just sticking it on top, I would not recommend that. Just try to slice the ribbing parallel to the flat surface. You may even go a little deeper than you want in some spots, but as long as you don't cut through, or slice the airbag, it's not a problem. Again just be careful, but when the stock Emblem/Badge is out you can just cut away a little at a time. When I did mine, I also didn't use a Dremel tool. I got a very small indentation, that is barely visible at all, right on the rim around the Emblem/Badge. I did just pry the stock Emblem/Badge out. When I did mine (like most things I do) I never thought about doing this for other people. I feel taking it out makes it easier, and insures no damage to the surrounding area. I have highlighted that section now, to make it more clear. Well as it said in the original post, you don't have to take out the AirBag to do this. Complete with original package and part number Place it over the existing factory steering wheel emblem or replace it Come with High Quality Adhesive Sticker. They are located on the sides of the steering wheel. ![]() Next, loosen the 2 screws that hold the AirBag in. This is important, because you will be removing the AirBag (See Disclaimer Below). You will see what needs to be pried out.įirst (and this is important) Disconnect the battery, and leave it disconnected for at least 5 minutes, but 20 minutes would be best. Just read below, and look at the pictures. But if you don't feel comfortable taking out the airbag it is an option. You take the risk of damaging the rubber around it. ![]() You can just pry the stock metal badge out with a small standard screwdriver. I did a set of my wheel center cap Emblems/Badges in Hot Pink for some one at no extra charge. But for the factory colors, there is no extra charge. Push evenly and hold it for 30 seconds to let the adhesive stick. It will clean off any residue and prepares your surface for the double sided tape. Use your cleaner and a q-tip to really get into those hard to reach spots! Clean the raised surface area with rubbing alcohol. Don't let your blade slip though!!īack of the emblem to show you all the pin locations (emblem is a soft plastic, not hard. Use a sharp utility knife and slowly cut them below the surface. Pull them out, the outside edge ones come out easily. You will find many rubber pins holding the emblem on. Once you lift it up, grab your needle nose pliers and pull. Lift up the INSIDE of the emblem b/c if it got damaged, it's not visible anyways. Stick your small flathead here to lift up the edge. Mask off around the emblem to prevent scratches (optional) Turn on your headlights to drain any leftover power.
